Sunset from Montjuic, one of the best Barcelona viewspots

Sunset Montjuic Barcelona 2021 - The cat, you and us

Hello again!

It has lately been quiet here around the blog, being honest there’s not so much to share since my days are pretty much the same. Does a similar thing happens to you? During the week I work from home which usually ends quite late, and then I browse Instagram or review a little bit my Japanese and with that it will be dinner time. Of course, I feel thankful to be able to have a job where I can keep working remotely for as long as this goes on. Workdays wouldn’t exactly be a lot different than it was pre-covid times, wouldn’t it? from Monday to Friday I always had my schedule full too and wasn’t able to explore my creativity. However, one thing has changed more drastically, and it’s the weekends.

I used to have the weekends busy with photo editing, or travel planning, or thinking about photo ideas, also discovering new eateries in Barcelona and sharing them on our Instagram stories. For the last weeks specially, on weekends I haven’t felt inspired at all, partially I blame the January blues but I know it’s also this situation that it is blocking me. Maybe the only exception is home styling, I daily think about how to improve little bits of the house. Well, I say improve but maybe it’s only changing them because it is nice to switch things a little. In fact, our only purchases recently are home stuff.

Since the end of the Christmas season we have been semi-confined and aren’t allowed to leave our municipality, which means we have only Barcelona as a background for our sessions. I know it’s a beautiful city, but frankly, I dread to go outside because my brain only focuses on keeping my 6ft from all the people, instead of looking at my city with a photography eye. Taking that into account and the lack of novelty, I haven’t felt the need to create any new adventure on the blog.

In order to break that vicious cycle, we went to see the city & its sunset from up high to make amends with Barcelona. Do you know this spot? It is the MNAC (National art museum of Catalonia) balcony and (once) a very popular spot to see the city sunset. It was super nice, oh! and a very easy and good covid friendly tip to avoid completely everyone was to just walk a few steps from the stairs.

Dino necklace - The cat, you and us

I was trying to have fun with my look, I see it as a special mix of 80s hairstyle with a Japanese emo vibe. Everything is an oldie, except the dino necklace (from Modcloth but no longer available neither) that I got for Christmas! and the Dr Martens dupe shoes that are from Zara kids.

After visiting Park Güell and now the MNAC balcony, I have been thinking of visiting other popular spots in Barcelona, as a way to feel less stuck in this city but happy to be here. Would you like to see it?

Have you been to this MNAC balcony before? Which part of Barcelona would you like to see next?

  1. Fee ADDS...

Arghh that all sounds very stir crazy! It’s so nice you did manage to fight the blues to see the sunset and dress up. Your outfit is pure heaven, a french painter meets the movie, the craft – I dig it 1000%!! I hope as the seasons fade, things get easier for you guys. I’m so privileged to be able to move about without too many restrictions. I need to remember all the lockdowns happening and the mental + physical health concerns that are so very real. Sending you big love!

  2. I’ve been feeling super uninspired as well! In 2020 I turned to books for inspiration, because even though my days were monotonous, books always promised something different. I posted on my blog very inconsistently, but I became more active on bookstagram. But so far in 2021, I haven’t even had inspiration to take photos for bookstagram! Usually when I’m in a creative rut, I’d take myself to a new cafe, but obviously that hasn’t been an option for me. Anyways, it’s so lovely to see how you’ve been coping with the monotony and spending your weekends! I love all the oranges and blues and your dino necklace!
