Limassol is a true cosmopolitan city among all cities in Cyprus.

The summer air temperature can reach more than +40 degrees, the sea temperature is about +29 degrees. In winter, some locals and tourists swim, as the temperature of water rarely goes under +18 degrees.
It's pretty different in the mountains. The air goes to +27 degrees in the middle of the summer day, at summer night comes freshness and coolness. In winter, the temperature can drop below zero, and snow falls in the highlands. Therefore, we cannot say that there is no real winter in Cyprus.
The nature of the Limassol region is impressive. The beauty of the foothills and mountains does not leave anyone indifferent. Even a simple hike in the coniferous forest gives a strong impression, but if you visit the highest points of the Troodos mountain range...
Limassol landmarks
Limassol is in no way inferior to other cities in terms of attractions: there are also ruins of ancient temples, medieval fortresses, Orthodox shrines and natural monuments. Well, there are even more museums and galleries than in other Cypriot cities.
What can you find in Limassol city? This:
- The sculpture park on the Molos embankment
- A medieval fortress with a museum inside. By the way, not only adults like it, but also kids adore this museum, as "there are knights!"
- Cami Kebir Mosque. The minarets of an old mosque rise right in the city center
- Marina, the largest port on the entire island! Cruise and small ships under the flags of various countries stop here
- Orthodox shrines: the Church of St. Ignatius, the Cathedral of Ayia Napa, and the Church of the Holy Trinity
- St. Catherine's Catholic Church
- 28 October Street is a long tourist line named after the Ohi Day celebrated annually in Cyprus.

So, a must visit on the outskirts of Limassol:
- Akrotiri Salt Lake, the smaller brother of the famous Larnaca Salt Lake
- The medieval castle of Kolossi, overgrown with many legends over several centuries
- Ancient Kourion (with an impressive amphitheater) and a museum attached to it
- Ruins of the ancient city of Amathus
- Ruins of the temple of Apollo Hylates
- Erimi Wine Museum. Do not forget to try the legendary Cypriot Commandaria!
- "Cat" monastery of St. Nicholas. There are sooooo many cats here!
- Rock of Aphrodite, or Petra tou Romiou. Wild beach, wh ere, according to legend, Aphrodite first set foot
- Monastery of the Holy Cross in Omodos, here is kept a piece of the cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified
- Trooditissa Monastery
- The Chantara waterfall is one of the largest in Cyprus.
This is just a small list of what can be seen in Limassol. Of course, there are much more interesting things. You need to live here for six months or a year to get around all the iconic sights and get lesser-known tourist spots.
Limassol with kids
Many people think that Limassol is the best place to stay with children. Indeed, it is easy to find entertainment for children of any age in a big city, and if parents want beach holidays, there are more than enough safe ones in Limassol.
There is a zoo in the city center, next to the Municipal Park. It is small, but you can spend all your day here: the small kids can ride a pony, and the older children love the park and playground.
No one (including adults) refuses to visit the water park called Fasouri Watermania. The smallest kids splash in the paddling pool, and schoolchildren and adults adore water slides.
You can always drop by the Limassol Municipal Park or visit the Molos embankment playground. And if you are tired of the city, it's easy to go out to nature. It is recommended to visit, first of all, open meadows near fresh water reservoirs: Germasogeia, Kouris, Polemidia.
Donkey farms are popular in the villages of Limassol. Not only donkeys are bred there, but other animals as well. In fact, this is a light version of contact zoo. The largest farms are "Apesia Hills" and "Dipotamos" in the villages of the same name.
Cultural holidays and festivals
Limassol is the culture center of Cyprus, and nobody even argues with that. Lovers of contemporary art should look into the art galleries, the largest of which is the Municipal Art Gallery.
There are also enough museums: special attention should be paid to the one located in the Limassol Fortress and the Municipal Museum of Folk Art. Lovers of authenticity are advised to go to large villages and visit the museums of everyday life there, as the flavor is better felt here.
Also in Limassol, various festivals are constantly held. The villages are full of mini-festivals of flowers, fruits and berries in summer. Larger events are held in the city.
Carnivals and festivals in Limassol:

- Wine Festival takes place in late August or early September annually
- Beer festival in early July.
All festivals are held for more than one day, they are accompanied by folk ensembles and popular artists performances, contests and events for children and adults. The atmosphere is extremely relaxed and openly cheerful.

Finally, Limassol is ideal for those who want more than a week holiday. This city hospitably welcomes everyone who wants to taste the flavor of Cyprus as long as possible.
