Lemmy: Motorhead frontman's memorial service to stream online

Lemmy Kilmister, the late Motörhead frontman, will have a private memorial Saturday, but everyone’s welcome.

While Lemmy’s favorite bar, the Rainbow Room, will hold its own event, family and close friends will observe a service at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in the Hollywood Hills beginning at 6 p.m. ET. The band requested that fans not attend the ceremony due to limited space, but they’ll be live-streaming the service on the group’s YouTube channel.

“So wherever you are, PLEASE get together and watch the service with fellow Motörheadbangers and friends,” the band said in a statement. “GO to your favorite bar, or your favorite club, make sure they have access to an internet connection and toast along with us. Or simply invite your pals around and celebrate Lemm’s life at home.”

Lemmy died Dec. 28 after a battle with an aggressive cancer. He only learned about the disease Dec. 26, two days after his 70th birthday. The band requests respects be paid by ordering flowers by contacting Karen Brando at Flowers By Michael or donating to the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund.
