Just got my 12 pro max, and the display is definitely more yellow than my Xs Max. Going to wait a few days to see if it improves. The Xs Max on the left and the new 12 pro max on the right. What you guys think?

You should really turn true tone off for a better comparison. True Tone is kinda wack on new iPhones even if they have good screens.
Lol I'm a dumbass. I forgot to turn it off, here's with them both off. The 12 is still a little more yellow but its not bad enough for me to exchange it.

Why do we all strive for a bluish screen??
I was thinking the same thing. Blueish is not more natural to our eye either, warm is more pleasing to the eye. HOWEVER people who like vibrant screens and the blueish hue makes it pop more with the OLED. The LCDS before the OLED panels have been more warm imo.

Other manufacturers (laptops, monitors) charge extra for "perfect panel guarantees" or dead pixel checks. I would totally be onboard with this. Saves so much hassle.
Those retailers don't actually check though (not cost-effective). The extra charge just prices in the return rate when someone finds a dead pixel after all. Apple isn't really much different, except that they extra-charge everyone. ;)

I would pay $100 to be able to put on a glove and look at 7 units off an assembly line and pick the best, no return / exchange hassle, just right then and there in a dark room with no shame. like a pumpkin patch picking. Or a Dexter Morgan outting.

and save gas / time / phone calls / turning into the problem / losing enthusiasm for the new product release

lol

I don't know if this has already been posted:

Beside yellow screen I also have that black is not fully black, unless I turn brightness to maximum. I was comparing in stores today and mine was the worst. It also wasn't as bright at full brightness. I will wait and see. Unfortunately I am outside return period, so I will have to sent it for repair. I hope the problem is well documentet by the time or Apple has made a fix (fingers crossed).

The screen of my mini 12 has a somewhat yellowish (and very slightly greenish) tinge as well (TT off). I also feel that max brightness should be a little bit brighter. I'm going to return it anyway because the backside white is too creamy for my taste (matching the screen, in a way), have to go with another color. Serial is FD8, production week 43, for those who care.

Daaaang my 12 Pro Max has a very dim screen.

Full brightness, true tone off, auto-brightness off. Same settings on all phones.
First pic: 12 mini on left, 12 pro max in the middle, XS max on right.
Second pic: 12 pro max on left, XS max on right.

Edit: Okay phew rebooted and it's brighter now.

View attachment 1665183 I gave in and matched my 11 pro to my 12 pro and the difference is exactly like yours! I actually like the slightly yellow undertone to be honest and as I stated in a previous post it's so much easier on the eyes especially at night.

I’ve had 2 x G6T here in Australia.

First one was bad because left half of screen was yellow so returned it.

Happier with the second one. I think it looks a little closer to my s20 plus than XS.

Jeez, the brightness should not be that dim.

If so many units are "affected".... What the chance of it just being a color profile decision done by Apple easily fixable with a software update?

Received my 12 Pro Max today, looks like a keeper. Nearly identical to my 12 Pro. My 12 Pro Max serial starts with F2, for what it's worth. Photo taken with my iPad Pro. No pink hue in real life, best photo I could get.

View attachment 1664953
That photo shows me all you are getting with the max is one more line on the bottom? what gives.

My 12 Pro Max definitely has a more yellow tint than my 11 Pro Max. I’m keeping it though. I feel Apple has been going more towards the yellowish tint with every year as it is supposedly more natural looking & easier on the eyes.

Here's a comparison photo I took, max brightness, true tone/automatic off.

Left is my old 6 Plus I just moved up from, middle is a 12 Pro Max and right is an iPad Pro 10.5"

I really didn't notice it until I had the ipad and phone side by side. The picture also makes it hard to tell but the 12 is a bit dimmer as well.

nope, mine doesn't
I agree, there are sightings - more and more that say the yellow screen is not the default setting.

im trying to be happy with mine, but I know in my hind brain that this isn’t gonna work. Mine’s just too yellow/contrast issues.

Just powered up my 12 Pro Max. I noticed the yellow color during setup and hoped I could adjust it away. All of the app icons with white just don’t look as crisp as they do on my 11 Pro. I love the bigger screen but not the yellow. Has anyone reported this to Apple as a defect? I’m really curious what they say. It just seems like a step backwards to me because I honestly like the look of my 11 Pro better. I keep feeling like I accidentally turned on True Tone but after half a dozen checks it is indeed off.

My guess apple has moved towards warmer screens. Those that have the blue ones might not be calibrated the way apple meant for them to be. Would be nice if they were consistent. Who knows. I’m happy with mine.

I’d give them a week since they were probably just manufactured. Cherry picking is a pain esp having to restore everything and redo all the passwords etc.
