Playmates Toys has signed a new global licensing agreement (excluding Asia) with Hasbro to add the iconic Power Rangers to its licensing stable, which also includes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Star Trek, Ben 10 and Godzilla x Kong.

The California-based company will manufacture and distribute a new collection of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers toys for kids next year, spanning action figures, blasters, plush, role-play items and vehicles. Playmates also plans to leverage Hasbro’s Pulse DTC platform and its exhibitor space at major consumer events (including Comic Cons) to promote and distribute these products.

Hasbro retains all entertainment rights and will continue to oversee the brand’s licensing programs in the publishing, apparel and lifestyle categories. Prior to signing this deal, it produced several Power Rangers toy ranges itself, including the Lightning Collection and Retro-Morphin lines of action figures. But the brand has been shelved since Hasbro laid off nearly 800 staffers in the fall as part of an ongoing restructure.
