Fashion designer Jeremy Scott is leaving Moschino after 10 years

Jeremy Scott is out at Moschino.

The Italian fashion brand announced it would be parting ways with its creative director of 10 years on Monday.

Scott has been creative director of Moschino since October 2013, and his memorable fall 2014 debut collection — featuring McDonald’s-inspired golden arches, Hershey’s-style chocolate-wrapper gowns, SpongeBob Squarepants faces and more pop culture references — turned fashion on its head.

A press release sent out by the brand praised the designer, saying, “Scott has penned a fundamental chapter in the legacy of the brand with his fearless and show stopping pop-camp style and incisive humor.”

And the designer shared a note as well: “These past 10 years at Moschino have been a wonderful celebration of creativity and imagination,” Scott wrote in all capital letters. “I am so proud of the legacy I am leaving behind.”

Among the many kooky and campy looks Scott has designed over the years are Katy Perry’s chandelier getup at the 2019 Met Gala — followed by her transformation into a glamorous hamburger later that night — Kim Kardashian’s money-covered trench, Lizzo’s Jessica Rabbit-inspired 2019 VMAs gown and even MTV’s redesigned VMA Moonperson award in 2014.

Scott also announced his departure on Instagram, writing that he’s “had a blast creating designs that will live forever” and is “filled with excitement & anticipation and can’t wait to share with you all what [he] has in store for you next!”

Tons of celebrities took to the comment section to express their appreciation for the designer, who also runs his own namesake line.

“You’ve transformed the brand and I can’t wait for the next chapter! Jeremy forever x,” wrote Rita Ora, who has been wearing Moschino’s craziest looks since the start.

Naomi Campbell wrote, “@jeremyscott looking forward to your next chapter !! ❤️❤️❤️” while Gigi Hadid — who stars in the photo Scott chose to make his announcement on social media and has walked numerous Moschino runways — said, “Oh J ! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 bittersweet. It’s been such a joy and honor to be part of your Moschino world. Thank you for all the memories ! Love u so much, can’t wait to see where u take us next buddy 😉 🚀🦋”

Elle Fanning, Brad Goreski, Joan Smalls, Stella Maxwell and Lily Aldridge were among the others who shared message of support, calling Scott a “genius” and thanking him for the “magic” he has created over the past decade.

It’s unclear exactly who will take over at the Italian brand or what Scott’s next move is, but celebrities and their fans alike will surely be anticipating the announcement.
