Sorrento + Costiera Amalfitana

If you want to experience all the magic of the Mediterranean together with the charm of towns and villages perched on rocky spurs overlooking the sea and characterised by breath-taking views and picturesque architecture, the HABI tour we propose today is just what you need! Our tour starts in Rome, when you board our chauffeur-driven van and begin a comfortable journey that takes you to some of Italy's most fascinating places. The journey takes about four hours: after passing through the Roman countryside, the more inland and mountainous regions of Lazio and the inland areas of Campania, we descend to the coast near Naples. The city will be clearly visible from the window of your car, bright and charming, enclosed between the sea and the imposing figure of Vesuvius. From this point on, we will skirt the Tyrrhenian Sea with its fascinating views. After about 3 hours, we will arrive in Sorrento, the first stop on this fascinating HABI tour.

Sorrento is a marvellous coastal town located on the so-called Sorrentine Peninsula facing the bay of Naples. The town is built on the cliff that separates it from its crowded and picturesque harbour and is famous for its view of the sea and Piazza Tasso, dotted with cafés. The historic centre is a maze of narrow streets where you can find the church of San Francesco, a 14th century building with a quiet and characteristic cloister. Your driver will park near the centre, so you can easily get to and explore it for two hours, during which you can also sit at one of the characteristic cafes and enjoy one of the many specialities of these areas. Your driver will of course be able to give you the best advice on which corners are most worthy of attention, the most characteristic places, or the most scenic spots and, of course, he will be ready to meet you or accompany you if you wish. At the end of the two hours, we set off again, this time for Positano. The drive from Sorrento takes about an hour and winds through curves with truly breath-taking views. Positano is a town on the world-famous Amalfi Coast that includes several villages. It is a popular tourist destination and is characterised by lovely pebble beaches and, in the historical centre, narrow streets full of shops and cafes, from which you can enjoy a truly fascinating panorama.  The Church of Santa Maria Assunta is must-see: it has a majolica cupola and a 13th century Byzantine icon of the Virgin Mary. The so-called Sentiero degli Dei (Path of the Gods), a hiking trail connecting Positano to the other towns on the Amalfi Coast, starts from Positano.

In Positano we will stay one hour, during which, thanks also to the advice of our driver, you can visit the most characteristic views and corners of this wonderful town.
After Positano, the next stop is Amalfi. Even to reach Amalfi, you must travel along a very suggestive panoramic road. Amalfi is in a very picturesque natural setting, beneath the steep cliffs typical of this part of the south-western coast of Italy. Amalfi has a long and important history: between the 9th and 11th centuries, it was the seat of a powerful maritime republic. In the heart of the town, one of the most interesting monuments to see is St Andrew's Cathedral, dating from the Arab-Norman period and featuring a striped Byzantine façade.  Equally interesting is the Museo Arsenale di Amalfi, a medieval shipyard that has become an exhibition space.  Not forgetting, of course, the beauty of the historic centre. In Amalfi, too, the planned stop is one hour and here too your driver will be able to give you invaluable advice, both as regards what there is to see and as regards typical places and restaurants to stop off at.
At this point, the standard version of the tour ends, and we depart for Rome. However, if you plan to extend your stay on this beautiful corner of the Mediterranean, we recommend visiting Ravello, Maiori and Minori.
Ravello is situated 365 metres above the Tyrrhenian Sea on the Amalfi Coast, and is known for its extraordinary cliffside gardens. Of particular interest are the Moorish-style Villa Rufolo, dating back to the 13th century, which offers sweeping views from its terraced gardens and hosts indoor and outdoor concerts during the famous Ravello Summer Festival, and Villa Cimbrone, a medieval-style estate perched on a steep rise, is surrounded by another famous garden. Maiori is another jewel of the Amalfi Coast, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The entire territory of Minori was also declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997, along with the other towns on the Amalfi Coast.
