Of all other options available, these are pretty much the way to go! They've worked well used in a couple of roof rack channels. I found it's actually possible to pre-measure the fit of just such channels with nothing more than a ruler prior to purchase. These must be inserted from an end of a luggage rack, so they're not fully "drop-in". However this actually makes them additionally secure. Be sure to use stainless steel nuts also.
