I’m finally getting around to weeding and editing some of the flower photos I took earlier this year. When the sky is gray – and it’s cold out – there’s nothing like spring flowers to put me in a better mood.

I recently found some photos of Grape Hyacinths that I took at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, Maryland in April. Grape Hyacinths (genus Muscari) are members of the lily family, originating in Asia Minor and around the Mediterranian. They are small plants with clusters of bulb shaped flowers.

The first set I photographed are Christmas Pearl Grape Hyacinths – Muscari armeniacum. The clusters of purple flowers were still covered with the morning dew the day I photographed them.

A few days later, I photographed another variety of Grape Hyacinths. The yellow flowers are Golden Fragrance Grape Hyacinths – Muscari macrocarpum.

Hope these little grape hyacinths bring a little spring and color into your world this weekend!
