Almyros beach in summary

Almyros Beach offers a delightful blend of relaxation, adventure, and cultural intrigue. Whether you're basking in the sun, exploring underwater wonders, or unravelling ancient legends, this enchanting destination invites you to embark on a memorable journey along the shores of Crete's northern coast.

The beach is quite long and very well-organized. The lovely sandy beach is a little more than 300 m long, but not very wide. Behind the beach, there are many trees, and to the east, there is a lovely view of the mountains. It is sandy and the water is shallow and usually calm, making it ideal especially for young children.

The area has a few canteens, while there are also many options for water sports. Parking space is also offered in parallel along the wetland and the eastern part of the highway. The seawater is very cold in some places due to the river that flows all year round. There are almost all types of water sports activities at Almiros, including jet skis, banana boat and water skis. Next to the beach are the protected wetlands of Almiros, with several rare birds and also a few of the special palm trees that you find only here and in Vai Beach. On the south side of the beach, there are small hotels and apartments.

A little further south of Almyros and on the other side of the beach hotels in Akrotiri, and almost on the road to Ammoudara, a tiny beach is formed, unknown to most people. The sandy beach is not organized at all and the waters here are icy, as the wetland is very close. Despite the proximity to the road, it is not visible, due to the dense vegetation of schinos tree.
