I had no idea that the no-makeup pictures game could be raised even higher from current stakes. Due to caaasual global lockdowns taking place for the best part of the last 18 months, celebrities left, right and centre took to Instagram to go makeup-free and show off their everyday look behind the glam teams.
But as summer season has kicked in, we've noticed a certain trend at Cosmopolitan - that the classic no-makeup selfie, sampled by the likes of Jade Thirlwall, has now morphed into a whole new sun-soaked franchise: the seaside no-makeup selfie.
I mean, it requires little extra explanation - you take the classic zero-makeup with the modest smile, glowing skin and golden hour light, drop it onto a beach or poolside location, add a bikini and bob's your uncle. This week we've already seen Hailey Bieber do it - not long ago Lili Reinhart got involved, and, tbh, Bella Hadid's been at it since S/S2020.
Anyway, Sarah Michelle Gellar is the latest celebrity to jump aboard the trend. She just posted a cute beachside selfie to her Instagram grid, captioning it "Aloha… no make up…. no worries (my happy place)".
She's wearing a frilly one-shouldered bikini, her hair's blowing in the breeze and she's accessorised with a teardrop diamond pendant. Oh, and just a quick nod to that INCREDIBLE, envy-inducing backdrop...
Doesn't she look so glowy? Her brows are perfectly defined and lashes look curly and gorj, so we're guessing she opted for lash and brow tints ahead of the hol (great life decision) - and to be honest, she's living my actual dream right now.
Gonna need that skincare regime ASAP, Buffy...
