Voidokoilia is one of the most popular and well-known beaches of Greece and among the most beautiful ones in the Mediterranean.
Voidokilia took its name from her distinct shape (“beef’s belly”) and is located at an area dominated by blue color and nature. Voidokilia is a place of great historical interest; The Navarino castle (Paliokastro), located right next to it, was built by Franks during the 13th century AD. Under Paliokastro (which sits on the top of the rock), and above Voidokilia, you will find the cave of Nestoras. According to greek mythology, this is the cave where Ermis hid the flock he stole from Apollonas.
Both the beach and the general area have been labelled as areas of outstanding natural beauty and is listed under the Natura 2000 network.

This fact along with the existence of the archaeological site resulted in the protection of Voidokilia from human intervention and the preservation of its natural beauty.

Voidokilia connects to Gialova Lagoon and can be accessed either from Petrochori village or from Gialova Lagoon (via dirt road).
