We can't get enough of Jennifer Coolidge at the moment. Her iconic character in The White Lotus, her heartwarming and hilarious Golden Globes speech, her telling an interviewer that her dream role would be 'to play a dolphin', *that* TikTok debut featuring J-Lo... The list goes on.
Put simply, she's a certified legend – and every new anecdote that emerges about the 61-year-old actor serves only to emphasise that her stellar reputation is warranted. The latest fabulous tale comes courtesy of Buffy icon and protagonist of upcoming series Wolf Pack Sarah Michelle Gellar, who appeared on US chat show The View last night. After gushing about how much of a fan she was of Mike White's comedy drama The White Lotus – 'I don't even know what to do on Sunday nights now,' she told presenters – Gellar revealed that she had enjoyed a spontaneous, and seriously epic-sounding night out with Jennifer Coolidge a few years ago.
Gellar was asked about the story behind the throwback selfie she posted on Instagram in December of herself and Coolidge looking... a little worse for wear... The photo was captioned, '#flashbackfriday When you are missing having a new #whitelotus episode to look forward to, but you will always have the memory of the time you went dancing all night with the legend that is @theofficialjencoolidge (complete with smeared and sweaty makeup).'
Speaking on the chat show, Gellar recalled meeting Coolidge at a Christian Siriano fashion show some years ago, and explained that while Coolidge left after the event, she went to dinner with the designer before heading to a club.
There, the designer suggested they call Coolidge to invite her to join them. 'And I'm like, it's one in the morning!,' she recalls. 'He's like, well, let's just try!'
Gellar went on to explain: 'She was in her hotel room, asleep. And she was like, "OK, I’ll come!" You can’t get me out past 9 if I’m home ― forget it. [But] she got dressed, came to the club, danced all night... She's awesome.'
