If you're in Melbourne or visiting the area and enjoy taking in local art while being surrounded by lush green outdoors you'll probably appreciate the William Ricketts Sanctuary. This past weekend I took a mini road trip to the Dandenongs to visit the outdoor gallery and I'm so glad I did. It features 92 ceramic sculptures of native animals and Aboriginal people by artist, William Ricketts. Initially I thought his sculptures were wooden however they're actually made from a white clay that was quarried near Bendigo in central Victoria. They sit seamlessly upon larger rocks appearing as if they're organically rising from the earth. It's such a beautiful place, I can't believe in all the years I've lived in Melbourne this was my first visit.
