Crinum thaianu

Crinum thaianum is an excellent plant for the aquarium.  More commonly know as onion plant, Crinum thaianum grows in rivers and streams in Southern Thailand.  The large bulb on Crinum thaianum helps it to store energy through the dry spells.  Crinum thaianum is best used in the mid or background areas of a large aquarium, allowing the leaves to drape across the surface.  Large white flowers adorn Crinum thaianum when it is low water or emersed.  Crinum thaianum is a great aquarium plant for beginners because its large bulb gives it the ability to store energy through the dry spells and also makes up for mistake beginners may make with nutrition.  In its native country, Crinum thaianum is also used as a food plant.
