Who's that girl? It's ... Katy Perry?
On October 12, New Girl actress Zooey Deschanel took fans down memory lane when she posted a series of Halloween costume ideas in an Instagram clip. The short video titled "Cool Girl Halloween Costumes Ideas (Part 2)" featured references to Zooey's characters from past TV and movie projects, including Summer from 500 Days of Summer, Bridget from Trolls and Jessica Day from New Girl.
Zooey then used a 2012 photo of the American Idol judge as a "costume idea" in reference to the fact that the two look incredibly similar — and boy, were fans quick to comment on it.
"CONFIRMED you and Katy perry ARE twins," one person wrote on Instagram. "LOST IT AT THE KATY PERRY ONE HAHAHAHA," said another. A different person raised an interesting point writing, "I’m just saying… We’ve never seen you and Katy in the same room 👀 🤷🏻♀️ ❤️."
Someone in the comments even suggested a brilliant Halloween costume for actress and singer. "Sweetie, the world is waiting for you and Katy Perry to dress like the twins from The Shining 🙏," they quipped.
Jokes aside, Zooey has more to celebrate than her spirit of Halloween this fall. The 42-year-old actress starred in the Donnie and Joe Emerson biopic, Dreamin' Wild, which premiered in September.
What's more, in early October, Deadline broke the news that she'll be joining the cast of the Apple TV+ Rose Byrne-produced hit comedy series Physical for season 3 as Kelly, a sitcom star turned fitness industry enthusiast. The show follows a bored and troubled housewife (Rose Byrne)'s experience as her husband makes a controversial run for public office.
Although both of her more recent roles are much different than that of her well-known New Girl character, from the looks of her holiday-themed clip it seems like a part of the quirky teacher's enthusiasm is still very much a part of Zooey off-screen.
