Marc Dalton
BIOGRAPHY

Marc Dalton has been elected twice as the Conservative Member of Parliament for the Vancouver suburban riding of Pitt Meadows—Maple Ridge. Prior to being elected federally he represented Maple Ridge-Mission as a provincial MLA for eight years.

Marc was born in Germany when his father was stationed there with the Royal Canadian Air Force and grew up on military bases across Canada. He also served in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves and is a member of the local Royal Canadian Legion. Marc believes in a well-equipped and effective armed force especially considering the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the serious threats in Asia.

Marc is Metis and is proud of his Indigenous ancestry. He is a member of Metis Nation BC. On his mother’s side, Marc is French-Canadian. He is proficient in French and speaks basic Spanish. He sees Canada’s diversity as a great strength and something that has made our nation a beacon of tolerance and freedom for generations. He is very concerned with the Liberal strategy of dividing Canadians for political advantage and their undermining of Canadian freedoms.

Marc is a public-school teacher by profession and has taught many years at both the secondary and elementary levels. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and History and a Master’s in Educational Leadership both from Simon Fraser University.

Marc was also a blue-collar worker with the Teamsters while raising his young family and putting himself through university. He knows the challenges of financially supporting a family in an expensive metropolitan centre and saving to buy a townhouse.

Marc was also a pastor. His Christian faith is core to him and has given him the life-long desire to genuinely serve people, his community and the nation. He believes that all people are equal and valuable whatever their religion, ethnicity, sexual-orientation or language. He feels that traditional values such as the importance of the family resonate beyond those who usually vote Conservative.

Marc knows that for the Conservative Party to win elections, it must be a Big Tent coalition where people with diverse opinions are valued and feel at home, including fiscal, progressive and social conservatives, Quebecers, Westerners, Ontarians, Maritimers and Northerners. He believes that we need to focus on strong economic measures and the support of free enterprise that bring prosperity to all regions. Marc’s leadership style is collaboration. He believes in listening to and advancing policies that are important to the Conservative base. He will advocate for them with a strong voice.

In the last Parliament, Marc submitted Motion-88 proposing a Federal Framework to help address the opioid crisis that is devastating our country. It sought to provide supports for treatment and recovery to help set free those in the grip of addiction.

When Marc announced his bid for the Conservative Party leadership, he said that he would order a comprehensive Public Inquiry into the federal response to the Covid Pandemic. This would include an examination of hundreds of billions of dollars of expenditures that doubled Canada’s debt, how much the vaccine mandates were based on political expediency rather than public health as per Liberal MPs, the coercive measures taken that undermined Canadian civil liberties and what the government knew about vaccine injuries and deaths.

Marc and Marlene have three adult children and two grandchildren.
