Twenty-two years ago, one of the darkest and saddest pages in US history was written. The terrorist organisation Al Qaeda perpetrated an attack that is still etched in our minds today as if it were yesterday: the attack of 9/11.

It became a terrible morning in New York City when planes crashed into the Twin Towers, claiming the lives of almost 3,000 people and injuring up to 25,000.

What not many people know, however, is that after that attack a third building also fell, in addition to the two iconic towers.

Building 7 of the World Trade Center also succumbed

Although no planes hit the WTC7 building, the fall of the towers caused severe damage to much of its structure, forcing the authorities to finally demolish the building after the attacks.

Thus, on that day, New York also said goodbye to another great skyscraper of the city that never sleeps, consisting of 47 floors and up to 186 metres high.
