Hello! Today, I'm going to teach you how to make an adorable little fish.  You'll need two balloons. I've chosen an orange modeling balloon to make the body of the fish, but you could use red, or any other color you like, and a little white round balloon to make the eyes!

To start, we're going to inflate the modeling balloon but not all the way! We're going to leave... about... a hand's width, which will not be inflated... roughly like this. We're going to start by making... one sausage bubble... about three fingers wide. Followed by another sausage bubble, a bit smaller this time, about two fingers. Then another sausage bubble, exactly... the third sausage bubble will have to be exactly... the same size as the second bubble. And the fourth one... will be the same size as the first one.

So, big sausage bubble, small sausage bubble, small sausage bubble, and big sausage bubble. Remember, when you have a row of bubbles, you only need to hold the first and the last one, and the ones in the middle will not unravel. No need to contort yourself every which way! You take... the... knot... and wrap it around several times... around the base of the fourth bubble. Turn them together, several times, to secure the knot properly.

Compress the balloon to keep it nice and supple.

And here, for the next bubble, we take the size... let's see... the whole of a hand... about an entire hand's width. Then, make a small regular bubble, and turn it into a "pinch-twist", followed by another little round one, so a little, round, regular bubble, that we will also turn into a pinch-twist

Spread out... the air pressure over the rest of the balloon. And create another sausage bubble, the same size as this one. Here, these two bubbles should be the same size. Then a third one, still the same size, and attach it to the two others.

Next... with what's left, we're going to puncture the end of the balloon, let the air out, just a little, and tie a knot. There! Divide the rest of the bubble into two parts of unequal lengths, the first one will be a bit longer... and the last one, a bit shorter. Then, tie the last bubble around... the four bubbles. Those will form the tail. And the little bit that's left, you're going to tuck it... between the three large bubbles.

For the tail, we're going to fold it all together. The little bubbles... I mean, the crease between the small bubbles joins up with the crease between the big bubbles, and then you can twist them together, like this! There!

Now, we're going to set aside the body of the fish, and take the little white round balloon, which we'll inflate... but not too much!

Here, when you look at the balloon... See... it has to be proportioned roughly like this. Yes... a bit smaller than the tail. Tie your knot... you can in fact make it a double knot! And... you're going to divide it... just like making a bubble with a modeling balloon... you're going to divide the round balloon into two equal parts... that you're going to tuck... tuck right here, and this little bit of balloon is going to come and... close up... the gap between these two eyes.

And here's our little fish! If you like, you can rearrange the lips, so you can really see the crease, it looks a little cuter. And now we're going to take a marker, and draw eyes on it! Like this!

Now, if you like... we can add more bubbles. This is extra, it's optional... We take a transparent modeling balloon... that we're going to inflate just halfway. With this, make a row of bubbles, separated... by a pinch-twist. So : a bubble... a pinch-twist... a bubble... a pinch-twist... Don't forget to regularly compress the balloon, to evenly spread out the air pressure, towards the tip of the balloon. A bubble... a pinch-twist... (and so on)

And when you're left with one little oval, simply divide it into two bubbles... that we're going to tuck together... that we're going to tie... onto a pinch-twist, to get something that looks like this. Next we take our little fish... and we're going to tuck this... behind the eyes... tuck the first bubble behind the eyes, and the knot, we're going to stretch it... and attach it all the way to... the lips... and hide the nozzle.

There, our adorable little fish is finished! So... See you soon! For another lesson... with Mossieur Ballon !

Step-By-Step Photo Guide

balloon fish twisting step 1
1- You will need an orange (or any other color) "260" modeling balloon for the body, and a small regular (round) white balloon for the eyes.
balloon fish twisting step 2
2- Inflate the orange "260", leaving the equivalent of about five (or even six) fingers wide not inflated.
balloon fish twisting step 3
3- Form one large "sausage" bubble right after the knot (about three fingers wide).
balloon fish twisting step 4
4- Then form a second "sausage" bubble, but smaller than the first one (about two fingers wide).
balloon fish twisting step 5
5- Then form a third "sausage" bubble, exactly the same as the second one (about two fingers wide).
balloon fish twisting step 6
6- And finally form a fourth "sausage" bubble, exactly the same as the first one (about three fingers wide).
balloon fish twisting step 7
7- You should now have this series of "sausage" bubbles: a long one, then a small one, then a small one again, and finally a long one, just like the first one.
balloon fish twisting step 8
8- Attach the series of bubbles together together, by pulling the balloon knot and turning it a few times around its base and through the loop it formed.
balloon fish twisting step 9
9- Once it is secured, form a long bubble that should be about as long as full hand.
balloon fish twisting step 10
10- Hold it, while forming a perfectly round bubble right after it.
balloon fish twisting step 11
11- Transform that round bubble into a pinch twist.
balloon fish twisting step 12
12- Then form another round bubble of the same size,
balloon fish twisting step 13
13- which you will also transform into a pinch-twist.
balloon fish twisting step 14
14- Then form another long bubble that will be the exact same length than the one between the 2 pinch-twists and the loop.
balloon fish twisting step 15
15- Twist these two long bubbles around their base to join them together.
balloon fish twisting step 16
16- Then form a third bubble, the same length as the two long bubbles we just joined together.
balloon fish twisting step 17
17- And attach it to them by turning the remnant of the balloon around their base (which is also the base of the two pinch-twists).
balloon fish twisting step 18
18- If the remnant of the balloon is a bit too long,
balloon fish twisting step 19
19- do a small incision with a scissor (or even a needle) at the tip of it to let the air escape a bit before tying a knot..
balloon fish twisting step 20
20- The idea is two divide the remnant of the balloon into two bubbles of unequal length.
balloon fish twisting step 21
21- The first one should be a bit longer (but much smaller than the 3 long bubbles that have been joined together.
balloon fish twisting step 22
22- And the last one should be smaller than the previous one.
balloon fish twisting step 23
23- Now pull and twist the base of this small bubble all the way between the three long bubbles and the loop. The tension will curve the three longer bubbles a bit.
balloon fish twisting step 24
24- Once it is done, lodge that last small bubble in the midst of the cluster formed by the four other bubbles: the three longer curved bubbles and the shorter straight one (that one will be the bottom base of the fish)
balloon fish twisting step 25
25- Now take the very first loop of bubbles we made, and press the crease formed between the two smaller bubbles against the crease formed between the 2 longer bubbles.
balloon fish twisting step 26
26- This should enable you to easily twist each small bubble with its longer counterpart, to form the tail of the fish.
balloon fish twisting step 27
27- Now inflate the small round white balloon. It should be a bit less voluminous than the tail we just formed.
balloon fish twisting step 28
28- Divide the round balloon in two equal size bubbles. It's a bit tricky at first, although not much different than making a regular bubble with a modeling balloon (except the round balloon is fatter and shorter, thus harder to handle).
balloon fish twisting step 29
29- Take back the orange body of the fish and lodge one of the white bubble under the top curved orange bubble (the one at the opposite of the shorter straight one) , bringing it as close to the two pinch-twists as possible.
balloon fish twisting step 30
30- Then find the very last small bubble that was made with the remnant of the orange balloon and lodge its tip between the 2 white bubbles, thus securing them and filling in any gap.
balloon fish twisting step 31
31- Take a black marker and draw the eyes on the white bubbles.
balloon fish twisting step 32
32- There, the balloon is finished! You could simply stop here if you wanted too.
balloon fish twisting step 33
33- However, if you had the time and the material, you could add one last detail by inflating a transparent "260" modeling balloon, but only halfway.
balloon fish twisting step 34
34- And with it, make a series of alternating round bubbles and pinch-twists.
balloon fish twisting step 35
35- The last bubble of the series should be inserted back half way in the series, against another bubble or pinch-twist, to form a small cluster.
balloon fish twisting step 36
36- You can then attach it to the fish any way you prefer. You could put it directly at the mouth, while I prefer it on the side, to give an impression of movement.
balloon fish twisting last step
Well done, your balloon fished are so cute!
