She may be mad at being told to lose weight, but Christina Hendricks is happy she didn’t.

In the new issue of Health magazine, the voluptuous “Mad Men” star admitted she was hurt by a New York Times article that criticized the ruffly peach dress she wore to the Golden Globes.

“You don’t put a big girl in a big dress,” fashion critic Cathy Horyn wrote.

The 35-year-old actress told Health she made the “grave mistake” of reading the articles about what she wore after the ceremony.

“I was like, ‘Oh, my God, people are so mean!’ she said in the July/August issue of the magazine. “I still remember all those negative comments, despite all the wonderful positivity. That’s why we’re all in therapy!”

But despite the pressure to slim down, Hendricks said her steadfastness to remain true to herself has finally paid off.

“All those times I had agents who were like, ‘You have to lose some weight,’ and all of a sudden, people are celebrating it,” she told Health. “It’s like: ‘Oh, thank you! Thank you for letting me be me.'”

The actress said she actually felt her most beautiful as a model when she was at her heaviest.

“The first time I went to Italy, I was having cappuccinos every day, and I gained 15 pounds. And I felt gorgeous!” she told the magazine. “I would take my clothes off in front of the mirror and be like, ‘Oh, I look like a woman.’ And I felt beautiful, and I never tried to lose it, ’cause I loved it.”

According to Hendricks, she “breaks every healthy rule” by eating salty and creamy foods.

“I could sit down with a bag of chips and French onion dip and go to town!” she joked to the magazine. “That would be on my last-supper list.”

Though Hendricks was a dancer in her teens and never had to worry about what she ate or how much she worked out, she now has to force herself to break a sweat.

“So I’ve really had to train myself to get down to the gym,” she told Health.

Hendricks might love her curvy figure, but she is surprised she is considered as having one of the most coveted bodies in show business.

“Really? They don’t say Jessica Alba?” she asked the magazine. “‘Cause that’s what I say!”
