Crash puts Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff in Top Gear limbo

Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff is yet to decide whether he will return to Top Gear after a crash left him psychologically traumatised, friends say.

The former England cricket captain is understood to have escaped serious injury in the incident but the impact on his future at the show is unclear.

Filming of the BBC series is suspended while video of the crash is examined in an internal safety review, to be completed in the next two weeks. Work is to resume soon afterwards but there has been no announcement about whether Flintoff, 45, will feature.

The presenter is reported to have required surgery after the crash at the Dunsfold Aerodrome, Surrey, in sub-zero temperatures on December 13. Friends said he was making a good recovery physically
