For anyone wanting something more adventurous there are hiking trails up Corfu’s highest peak, Mount Pantokrator. Another popular walking area is around the village of Old Perithia which, although largely abandoned, has several tavernas. Or take a picnic and find a spot with a view over the countryside and sea. The Corfu Trail is a must for hikers and passes just behind Acharavi.

The traditional village of Peroulades, just to the west of the lively resort of Sidari is also worth a visit. The cafe bar on the headland offers spectacular sunset views.

Corfu Town is a fascinating mix of Venetian, French, British and of course, Greek history. Even just wandering through the streets and fort areas, you can get a sense of the history. If you want to know more, the archaeological museum has a good collection of well presented artefacts found across Corfu. You can climb around the buildings of the New Fort for great views up the coast and across the town. It’s also fun just to sit in one of the elegant cafes along the famous Liston and watch the locals at work and play.
