LM001 - Free Enterprise V / Pride of Hythe

 

Linkspan Models are delighted to offer this model of the Free Enterprise V / Pride of Hythe.

 

Free Enterprise V was built by I.C.H. Holland, Werf Gusto Yard, Schiedam, Holland for the European Ferries Group. She was launched on the 31st January 1970 and served on Channel crossings for Townsend-Thoresen for many years before her ownership transferred to P&O European Ferries in 1987.

 

With a change of ownership came a change of name: as Pride of Hythe she served on the Dover-Boulonge route until 1993, when she was sold to Trans Europa Ferries and renamed the Laburnum.

 

In 2003, chartered to Comanov, she operated in the Mediterranean as Tadla until she was finally broken up at Durres, Albania in 2012.

This kit includes a glassfibre hull, laser-cut styrene superstructure parts, etched brass detail frets, resin cast and 3D printed fittings, vac formed lifeboats and funnel. Prop shafts and brass propellors, wood strip and brass wire are also included.

 

To accompany these are 12 A1-sized drawings showing detailed plan and elevation views of each deck.

The kit also comes with a comprehensive set of building instructions, 3D assembly drawings, a CD of photographs of the prototype build and detailing information enabling the completion of the model in her Townsend-Thoresen or P&O liveries.
