Ubisoft seems to have fallen into the habit of repeating the same thing over and over, just like the villain of their own game, Far Cry 3, once said. He described the habit of doing the same thing over and over again as insanity. The irony is in the fact that whenever Ubisoft sees something get successful, they go about repeating it till people get bored of it, and there’s a fear that Far Cry 7 would fall into the same trap.

Ever since the launch and moderate performance of Far Cry 6, the developer publisher has been working pretty hard. They have refrained from announcing or even talking about Far Cry 7, but some recent reports have suggested that it would be a very different game this time around.

Ubisoft is set to change the game with Far Cry 7

Years ago, Ubisoft was reportedly working on a game called Rainbow Six Patriots. It was an interesting game, and when Ubisoft revealed it, they explained that this was the logical evolution of their tactical first-person franchise. They introduced the Patriots as a terrorist fighting group that did its best to diminish the damage caused.

And in doing so, they have to make some tough choices. In the trailer or demo that was shown back then, Ubisoft showed a bunch of hostiles with hostages. The Patriots had to go in and save the hostages, and then it was revealed that one of the hostages had a bomb strapped to his chest. This is where they have to decide to either save the guy or save the people around him by sacrificing him by putting him out of civilian range.

This was a controversial gameplay mechanic that would have made players think twice. But they decided to change this and shelved the Patriots in favor of the Rainbow Six Siege. This was a 4 vs. 4 tactical shooter that was ripe for monetization opportunities. They shelved a very creative idea in favor of Siege.

What players lost all those years ago might be coming back now. They would get to experience that lost gameplay mechanic in Far Cry 7. It is being reported that Ubisoft has decided to make the latest installment in the Far Cry series a whole lot different from what it was before.

This time around, players would have a time limit. It would feature a non-linear story that would be told in timelines broken into several pieces. Players would control a member of a rich family looking for others; everyone else has been abducted and kept in different locations.

This game would give players a very strict time limit for saving each of those family members. They would be able to choose whom to save first, and they would be able to pause this flow of time when they entered safehouses.

One more noticeable change would be that players would be able to interrogate enemies now. This would help them speed up their rescue as they would be able to locate their family members faster.

It’s certainly something interesting; let’s wait to see how much truth this new rumor holds.

Ubisoft has already limited its operations

For those unaware, Ubisoft is going through a rough patch nowadays. They once had numerous games in development, most of which they had to cancel the previous year because they had to save money and release those games first that were more likely to be hit.

It remains to be seen how long it takes for Ubisoft to announce Far Cry 7 though, as there are chances they will only announce their next game when it is actually complete. They tasted defeat when they announced Sea of Thieves way too early and then had to postpone it numerous times.
