Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park
The “Tsingy de Bemaraha” is the first National Park in Madagascar classified as World Heritage by UNESCO. To get to these fairy-tale labyrinths, gorges, caves and cathedrals made up by sharp limestone peaks, a 4x4 vehicle is required. You will have several small river crossings, some by ferry, and the sandy roads can get bumpy.
The word “Tsingy” means walking on the tip of the feet. This refers to the Malagasy’ Ancestors that found it difficult to walk through that typical limestone landscape to find shelter.
Not only do this park offers a spectacular landscape, but it is also the home of a huge number of endemic and diverse species. You will find about 400 animal species(mammals includes lemurs, birds, reptiles, amphibians) and no less than 900 natives plants of Madagascar.
