Egremni Beach, the turquoise paradise of Lefkada

In the heart of the Ionian Sea, at the southwestern tip of the enchanting Greek island of Lefkada, lies a coastal jewel called Egremni Beach. This stunning beach is a true work of nature, famed for its turquoise waters, wide expanse of golden sand and towering white cliffs that serve as a backdrop. This wild and majestic oasis, where all the shades of blue of the sea that blend with the blue of the sky give life to one of the most spectacular sceneries in the country.

Until a few years ago, Egremni beach was regularly reached by land via steep stairs that descended from the cliff. This made the experience very exciting as it required an effort to conquer the hidden paradise. But in 2015, following a series of strong earthquakes, a landslide occurred which destroyed a large part of the staircase. Since then the beach remained accessible only through the sea and it was only at the beginning of 2021 that a new staircase was built on the same wall of the collapse. A rather demanding flight of about 347 steps, especially to climb during the hottest hours and perhaps not suitable for everyone.

Access to the beach from the sea remains the simplest and safest, many boats organize day trips from the surrounding islands, offering visitors the opportunity to enjoy the view of the cliffs, dive into the clear waters and land on this pristine coast. On the beach there is also a small kiosk where you can eat and rent umbrellas and sunbeds. Despite difficult access, Egremni Beach remains an icon of the natural beauty of the island of Lefkada, a corner of paradise that continues to exert an unrivaled fascination on anyone who visits it.
