Superstar Amitabh Bachchan recently took to his blog to reveal a somewhat amusing anecdote about his iconic 1978 movie Don.

BIG B SHARES AN AMUSING ANECDOTE

The actor, who is in the habit of sharing daily updates with his fans, wrote, "Amusingly , when the film ‘DON’ was announced with me .. many in the world of Hindi cinema were quite unaware of the word don .. what they were familiar with was a product known as DAWN .. the DAWN banyaan .. vests .. And the market was very skeptical and annoyed with the makers as to why a film title should be about undergarments. Many still are.”

On an earlier movie anniversary, the actor had mentioned, "Don was a name that no one in the market approved of. They never understood what it meant and never felt that a name such as ‘DON’ was material for the title of a Hindi film. In fact if truth be toldâ€æ for many it was quite an amusing title.”

ABOUT THE MOVIE DON

Don released in 1978 to mega success, becoming one of the top three highest grossing movies of the year. The film also starred Zeenat Aman and Pran in pivotal roles. Its screenplay was written by Salim-Javed, and the feature was helmed by Chandra Barot.

The movie was remade in 2006, starring superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. It was directed by Javed Akhtar's son, filmmaker Farhan Akhtar. The movie was a hit at the ticket counter, and also starred Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal among others in important roles.
