This is where things start getting emotional, folks.
The Flash has announced a trio of returning characters/actors for its ninth and final season (premiering Wednesday. Feb. 8), and they include series vet Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West aka Kid Flash.
Also due for encores — and all appearing in the farewell run’s ninth episode — are Arrow alum David Ramsey as John Diggle/Spartan, and Sendhil Ramamurthy as Season 6 baddie Ramsey Rosso/Bloodwork.
The longest-running Arrowverse series also revealed a poster (down below) for its 13-episode swan song, and it’s pretty damn perfect.
Showrunner Eric Wallace had a little something to say about each of the above returning guest stars.
“As one of the legacy Arrowverse characters who helped start it all, John Diggle holds a special place in our hearts, as well as the fans’,” Wallace said in a statement. “Plus, the commanding presence and commitment to excellence actor/director David Ramsey brings to the screen each-and every time is truly inspiring. So, of course, it was a no-brainer to have Diggle join Team Flash in our final season! So, get ready for a very emotional reunion as John Diggle aka Spartan helps protect Central City alongside Team Flash one, last time.”
Regarding Lonsdale’s first appearance since the middle of Season 6, Wallace noted, “Kid Flash isn’t just another speedster — he’s a beloved part of our Team Flash family. So as soon as we knew he was coming back, we set out to create a special and heartfelt story for his return. The result is a brilliant performance from Keiynan that showcases a side of Wally West you’ve never seen before.”
Ramamurthy’s Bloodwork last was seen late in Season 6, when Eva McCulloch’s Mirrorverse minions tracked him down in his ARGUS containment cell to claim a drop of his blood for reasons.
“Ever since Sendhil turned in such a brilliantly haunting and unforgettable performance as the tortured Ramsey Rosso in Season 6, we’ve been looking for a way to bring him back,” said Wallace. “We also knew we wanted to have Ramsey play a part in Flash’s final race. Fortunately, everything came together and now the villainous Bloodwork’s return will set into motion one of the Flash’s wildest and most emotional adventures yet.”

No Cisco?
No, but at least we get to see Mohinder from Heroes with stupid black mascara, veins all over his body gasping every ridiculous line of dialogue like he just finished a marathon. Bloodwork, seriously? He was a one note villain who killed time until the real crisis was there. But sure, with 13 episodes left lets bring him back.
Cisco could still show up but maybe they aren’t ready to announce it yet.
I feel like the returns of both Cisco and Oliver Queen – if they happen – won’t be advertised, but will be a surprise moment for the fans.
They were just announcing these three. I don’t think they’ll announce every returning character. They might, announce more, of course. But, I’m hoping for some surprises. I kind of miss the days where we just got to watch the show and be surprised. Granted, I’m here reading these articles. So, I like spoilers, too. :) But, I don’t think this article is meant to mean these are the final three returning characters we’ll see. Personally, I’m hoping for a Supergirl appearance. Barry and Kara’s friendship was so fun to watch. I think we’ll get Cisco back for another appearance. But, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s not spoiled beforehand.
We want Cisco too. BRING HIM BACK!!!!!!
BRING CISCO BACK : )
Will miss the Flash. I still count Lois & Clarke as Arrowverse even if they’re on different earths. So they would b the last surviving show.
That’s a fair cop. Edited!
I would love to see Cisco and any OG characters. A visit from Spectre / Oliver or Felicity would b awesome or a way to get a wrap up for Mia’s brother from Nora
I think Flash fans (in general, obviously) would very much like Felicity to stay far away after the wedding fiasco.
It was definitely tacky lmao, but it wasn’t bad enough to banish her from the show indefinitely! Especially since Barry and Iris got a redo when they renewed their vows.
Shoehorning Diggle into every show in the universe for a storyline that went nowhere wasn’t enough already? I’d rather see some closure for the Legends if they’re gonna waste time on characters from other shows.
Shoehorning Diggle into it is meh indeed. But Legends doesn’t even deserve a mention what so ever. The showrunners were the *expletive* in that case. They had fair warning and decided to do the cliffhanger, so they shouldn’t be rewarded with even a mention or any time at all on any show.
Tough love?!
I actually completely agree with the show runners being the issue there. But if we’re spending time with characters from other shows, I still would rather get closure for those characters as an audience member.
Now still waiting to hear if John Wesley Shipp will return…we got to see Jay one last time! (Stargirl doesn’t count! : ) )
13 episodes and it seems they are cramming everyone possible…I know Jessie l. Martin is only doing 5 episodes, so there’s room…but there’s alot of stories and stuff they are telling this season…
JSA Flash jumped to StarGirl. Don’t know if he can jump back!
Superman & Lois is very much an Arrowverse show
i want kid flash turn on against reverse flash
