The much beloved Scarlet Speedster, Barry Allen a.k.a the Flash is expected to be back on the big screen soon and we are finally beginning to get more information about the upcoming movie, The Flash. A recently surfaced promotional image shows what some of the characters in the movie would look like.

The image shows two versions of the Flash, both played by Ezra Miller standing alongside Supergirl, portrayed by Sasha Calle, and Michael Keaton’s Batman; all four superheroes posing in the center of a giant DC logo. The two versions of Flash are donning dissimilar suits and have different facial expressions, and are possibly from different worlds. The two different Flash logos seem to be a nod to the pivotal 1961 DC comic book, Flash of Two Worlds!, that introduced the concept of the multiverse to DC.

According to the synopsis, The Flash will show the titular character dealing with the unintentional consequences of a messed up timeline after he revisits his past to prevent his mother’s murder. The events of the movie are thus likely to be inspired by the 2011 comic book crossover story arc, Flashpoint, which was also the subject of the 2013 DC animated movie, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox and the start of the third season of the CW television series, The Flash. This storyline shows Barry enlisting the help of the other DC superheroes to revive his timeline.

Directed by Andy Muschietti, The Flash is set to release on June 16, 2023, in the US. It stars Ezra Miller as the Flash, Sasha Calle as Supergirl, Michael Keaton reprising his role as Batman from Earth-89, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne / Batman, Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Michael Shannon as General Dru-Zod, and Antje Traue as Faora-Ul.
