The Male Mould Poem by Hans Raj Sharma

The Male Mould

Missing, women now no more
A colour-divide in the society-
Making all colours relevant for all
By not dressing up a male in blue
And the female in her pink-
No more blue boys, no more pink girls.

Amid never ending lists-
Of do's and don'ts for females
That discouraging comedian take
Now a passion, for aesthetic freedom.

A career woman or a doting mother
The choice every mother has to make
Skipping guilt trips-
Running up to the international level
She lives and she loves like Rashmi Lele
Between hope and despair.

The brightest of them all
While living in a fair world
Quotes from her heart-diary
Decorating room-walls of the family.
Facing, East for the Sun-rise, backing
Backing, West for the moon and stars.
Fighting for equality fair enough
Demanding pay-parity at work.

Yet, a lot needs to be done-
Ensuring enough they are heard
Being women in an unequal world
Breaking freely from the male mould.
