There'S no better way to spark joy in the eyes of a hairdresser than to tell them you're thinking of "a drastic change" when you sit down in the chair. Forget the couple-of-inches-at-most trim, this is the season to go in for the killer cut - choosing a statement style that will transform the way you think, dress, do your make-up… It can even transform your career if the spring/summer 2016 catwalks are anything to go by - just look at Ruth Bell, whose career soared after she shaved her hair off and revealed a buzzcut for the shows, or Peyton Knight, who let Guido Palau chop inches off her hair backstage at Alexander Wang to create the perky pageboy style which subsequently landed her a Gucci campaign (for more on this particularly of-the-moment style look to Vogue's May issue, in which Julia Hobbs tries the look for herself). This was the season of the "wow" cut - where models with unusual and different styles saw themselves celebrated, rather than subjected to reams of extensions. Could you wear it? It's more versatile than you think (add salt spray and texturising paste for a choppy alternative), but you'll need straight hair to begin with.

Indigital5/8Damaris Goddrie's mussed-up mop of curls is the kind of hairstyle that would have had hairdressers reaching for the straighteners and serum backstage at the shows several seasons ago. For spring/summer 2016 though, it saw her walking for the likes of Versace, Proenza Schouler and Carven. Times have changed, and hair is the better for it.
Could you wear it? If you have the right hair texture and the confidence to carry it off, this is one of the ultimate cool-girl styles. We vote yes.

There's nobody quite like Edie Campbell when it comes to the rebel hairstyle, which is precisely what makes her look so alluring. Part mullet, part shag, it has a don't-care cool that gives any outfit it's paired with a street edge. We love.
Could you wear it? Absolutely - those with wavy or straight hair can easily rock this cut, whilst those with curly hair might be better suited to The Mica or The Damaris.

Model Ruth Bell's pretty, elfin features were once upon a time complemented by long blonde hair, but having shaved it all off before the spring/summer 2016 shows she's seen her career go from strength to strength. Proof that a cut can change your life.
Could you wear it? A buzzcut is a bold move, plus it emphasises your face due (obviously) to the lack of hair. Those with delicate features and a devil-may-care attitude are best suited.

The wavy-haired girl's equivalent of The Mica, Marjan Jonkman's tousled waves and eye-skimming fringe have a punk sensibility that make the style feel utterly modern. The platinum hue helps too.
Could you wear it? Yes, it's easy to maintain but packs a style punch. And you can always grow out the fringe if it gets on your nerves.
